Individual Personal Development Strategic Plan


Provide a summary report of approximately ten pages setting out your goals for your career and the strategies you will employ for achieving those goals in a competitive global environment.


Note; Additional content such as examples of material you wish to maintain as a data base in strategic management can exceed the 10 pages and should be attached as an appendix but they will not be marked.


The report should address;

  1. The megatrends that will influence and frame the context of your life and career achievements.
  2. Your goals for your career and, if you choose, your lifestyle
  3. The scenarios ( at least two) that you envisage will flow from those megatrends, and within which your career goals can be achieved.
  4. The key strategies (minimum 3) you will employ to deliver the outcomes such as salary, professional recognition, workplace location, and lifestyle.
  5. Use Porters five forces model to assess what forces will have most impact on your chosen career and adjust strategies to reflect how you will compensate or benefit from those forces.
  6. Conduct a self assessment against two standards one such as Engineers Australias Eng Exec., competency baseline for strategic management, and one other.(You will need to conduct research to establish at least one other standard.)
  7. Set your, five, ten and twenty year goals, in terms of measurable outcomes for each goal, based on the strategic management standard you prefer.
  8. Assess your current performance as a Human Resource asset and the performance gap that your strategies and related projects will have to address to achieve your plan, This could be in terms of,
    • Functionality, (leadership, behaviour, communications ability),
    • Condition (fitness, health, )
    • Compliance (qualifications, certification, training,)
  9. Provide a summary strategic plan with outline costs for the investment in your education, skill and personal development to achieve your plan over the next 10 years. (include a bar chart of activities and estimated cash flow pa.).
  10. Provide a statement of your next steps in delivering the plan you propose.


This document constitutes the handover document for your learning strategy.. The assessment will be based on how useful it will be for you in managing the strategies you have formulated during this course..
